Jakir Manela is the Executive Director of the Pearlstone Center in Reisterstown, MD. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 2004 and has worked as an environmental educator and nonprofit leader ever since. Having founded Kayam Farm at Pearlstone in 2006, Jakir now oversees all of Pearlstone, impacting over 20,000 participants each year in immersive retreats, dynamic experiential education, and hands-on sustainable agriculture. Jakir lives just up the road from Pearlstone with his wife, Nets, and their two sons, Lev and Shama. He coaches youth soccer and baseball at the JCC and loves building campfires and making music with friends.
