A global cybersecurity hub will be the centerpiece of the smart city being built at Port Covington, building on a great tradition of the region, according to Demian Costa, a partner at Weller Development Company, the lead developer for the project in Baltimore.
“This area is the true hub of cybersecurity,” Costa said at a day-long event organized by Greenspring Associates to celebrate cybersecurity. Of all the sectors planned for the upcoming smart city, “the one to jump out was cybersecurity,” he added.
DataTribe, a Fulton-based cybersecurity firm; and AllegisCyber, a Silicon Valley venture capital firm specializing in cybersecurity, have already signed up to be part of the smart city, Costa said.
“We want to make sure there is a network and ecosystem, most impoartant there is talent and infrastructure to keep these companies for the long haul,” Costa said.
